I wanted to apologize for the slow postings to the blog. My network adapter card appears to be broken in my laptop so I am without the ability to connect to any wireless networks, which are available here at the hotel as well as throughout the Minas Tenis Clube, if only my wireless were working.
We have lots of photos of everything we are doing here and the galleries are being built. The challenge has been in getting the photos uploaded to the server through FTP. I am limited to accessing the Internet through a direct Ethernet cable here a the hotel very late at night. We are working to resolve this issue, but in the meantime, please accept my apology.
We should be able to get the first photos posted in the next day or two and the rest of the team will be working on their journals. We will get these posted quickly as they are completed.
We are all having a great time down here in Brazil. The girls are busy between playing matches and trying to keep up with their host families' schedules.
We have completed two days of tournament play as of Friday. We have not yet won a match, but that was to be expected. We did take the team from Curitiba, Parana (state within Brazil) to 3 sets before losing to them in the 3rd.
Since that time we have played some great volleyball, especially Friday when we competed strongly with three outstanding teams. One from Belo Horizonte, one from Sao Paulo, and one from Rio de Janeiro. We keep getting better, but we are running out of time. The play here is incredible but points are difficult to come by as these Brazilian teams can play some serious defense.
We play one more team at 11:30 tomorrow (later today) to determine if we complete our tournament early or continue through to the playoff rounds. If we beat the team from Brasilia tomorrow, we may sneak into sixth place and continue to play in the afternoon Saturday plus some final bracket play on Sunday. If we do not get our fist win our tournament will end with this match.
